Imagine, you’ve just been in an accident somewhere remote and you can’t move, also there’s no one around to help you out. The only possible thing you can do is call an ambulance, you know whom to call but your network operator doesn’t provide service in that area!!
That’s one sticky situation isn’t it? Well you might probably lose your limb or god forbids your life, just because your network provider doesn’t operate there.
Well don’t worry, you can still call an ambulance even when your network is not available but the requirement is any one of the registered networks must be available.
You can call an emergency number in India irrespective of your network operator. Let’s say you’re using Airtel but their signal is not available but Vodafone signal is available. your phone still works through Vodafone’s network. (Just an example, not insinuating these networks are or aren’t available)
Why do we need this system?
No matter how competitive network companies are, it’s all forgotten during emergencies as it should. If you remember the example given in the first two paragraphs you already know why we need this system.
It’s all about convenience and quick connection during emergencies, to ensure that all network is considered to be one if you dial any emergency number in India.
How does this system work?
When you usually call someone from your phone, the specific microwaves as per your network emitted from your phone reaches the signal tower which belongs to your network operator nearer to you. This signal then sent to a satellite and diverted down to the intended tower nearer to your receiver.
When you call an emergency number from your phone no matter what your network is, it connects you with the nearest triage operator.
What are the different numbers you can call in India even when you don’t have any network on your phone?
