The national accreditation board for Hospitals and Healthcare providers (NABH) is a part of the Indian quality council. It is set-up for healthcare organizations to establish and operate accreditation programs.

NABH Standards provide documents ranging from Maintenance, Personnel hiring, Facility management, Operations.

Objectives of NABH Standards

In Chapter 2, Care of Patients, basically C.O.P.3 says

“Ambulance services ensure safe patient transportation with appropriate care.”

Commitment a. The organization has access to ambulance services commensurate with the scope of the services provided by it.

Commitment b. There are adequate access and space for the ambulance(s).

Commitment c. The ambulance(s) is fit for purpose and is appropriately equipped.

Commitment e. The ambulance(s) is checked daily.

Commitment g. A mechanism is in place to ensure that emergency medications are available in the ambulance.

Commitment h. The ambulance(s) has a proper communication system.

They mean to say that all the ambulances ought to be equipped with the appropriate ambulance stretcher as different ambulances like:

  • ICU mobile
  • Medical and Nursing Care Vehicle
  • Individual Ambulance
  • Collective Ambulance
  • And more…
