Narendra Modi, the name itself is enough to make you sit up and take notice, but also making the rounds these days is the fitness mantra of our beloved Prime Minister.
At the age of 65, he still is in prime fitness with working over 18 hours a day with a spring in his step, traveling to various parts of the country, the world and giving long speeches at almost all of the occasions.
In one of the videos, he himself admits that he catches maybe a few hours of sound sleep, 3.5 to 4 hours at night. Imagine being the country’s main leader – decisions, responsibilities and much more, he still finds time for himself, when he practices Yoga and Pranayam.
June 12th was World Yoga day, Narendra Modi was seen doing Pranayam and Yoga. But Modi-Ji does it every day, where-ever he may be, be it Gujarat, Delhi or even USA. His fitness regime has been the same over the years, with the adage early to bed, early to rise, keeps a man healthy, wealthy and happy.
His routine begins quite early in the morning with Pranayama, the art of deep breathing – that can relax one’s body and increase the oxygen intake into the bloodstream. Yoga comes in next, with Padmasana, Vajrasana exercises coupled with the Surya Namaskar that can get the blood flow going to the right places.
With the breathing and body exercises done it is time for the mental exercises that can reduce stress and calm the mind – Modi-Ji meditates for a few minutes every day to keep himself fresh and raring to go.
In a time and age where being fit is not a choice but a necessity, it is imperative for us to start too.
Waking up early and doing these exercises cannot make you Narendra Modi, but hey you can join in, with his footsteps towards being healthy even at sixty and above.
The important thing to notice is that Modi-Ji sticks to this routine with a strict discipline, the power of habit can play a very important role in the fitness of your mind and body. Also, he does stick to a very strict diet that aids in his better health.
His consumption of food is also very regulated with most of his diet being the staple of GujrathiKhichidi and a whole lot of vegetables, idlis, and dosas in the interim and a whole lot of luke-warm water to help his throat stay 100% active during his long extempore speeches.
